Kids Ski for Free in Bend. What?

By Tyler

With the kids out of school and snow falling at peak levels, winter is the perfect time to plan a family ski trip to Bend. Bend has been named one of America’s best ski towns by National GeographicTravel and Leisure, and Thrillist. Many locals wait all year to take advantage of Bend’s world-class skiing options, but for out-of-towners, the cost of food, lodging, and lift passes can really add up. Thankfully, Bend offers many incredible deals to make your vacation fun, unforgettable, and yes, affordable. Believe it or not, kids even ski for free at Mount Bachelor and Hoodoo Mountain Resort with the purchase of an adult pass. When you aren’t hitting the slopes, you can snow tube down an 800-foot slope at the Snowblast Tubing Park, take a sled dog ride along the Oregon Trail of Dreams, or visit the Sun Mountain Fun Center for pizza and indoor arcade games.

Mount Bachelor’s “Kids Ski Free” Deal

Mount Bachelor is Bend’s premier destination for snow sports. Located just 22 miles west of Bend, this 9,000 foot stratovolcano is skiable down every side and offers more than enough options to keep the whole family entertained for the duration of your stay. 60% of the terrain is labeled black or double-black, making it a paradise for expert adventure seekers, but there are plenty of beginner and intermediate routes scattered throughout the mountain as well. With the purchase of any adult-lift ticket of three days or more, kids can ski for free during the length of their parent’s pass. This amazing deal offers one free kid’s ticket per paid parent ticket. But remember: the kid’s free tickets are only available for advance online purchase and are not for sale at the resort. Go here for more details about lessons, pricing, how far in advance to purchase tickets, and other package deals to help you save even more money this holiday season.

Hoodoo Mountain Resort’s “Free Skiing for Kids” Deal

Hoodoo Mountain Resort, located outside the nearby old-West style town Sisters, offers free skiing for kids under the age of 5. It also offers weekend and holiday ski packages that include affordable lessons for kids ages 4 to 12. If you have youngsters under the age of 18 months, you can reserve a spot at their tiny, adorable day care center. The members of your family who may not like downhill skiing can try Nordic skiing or check out the Autobahn Tubing Park.

Bend is a wonderful place to visit any time of year, but winter really allows you to take advantage of everything the town has to offer. With plentiful options for outdoor sports, including excellent free skiing deals for kids, Bend is the ideal vacation spot for adventurous families who want to spend their time together outdoors without breaking the bank.
