5 Reasons the Pine Ridge Inn is the Ideal Hotel for Pole Pedal Paddle

Tyler • March 22, 2019

Every May, multi-sport athletes from across the Pacific Northwest flock to Bend for the annual Pole Pedal Paddle competition. Pole Pedal Paddle, or PPP for short, is a six-leg relay race that combines skiing, biking, running, and kayaking for a thrilling, high-energy day of spirited athletic showmanship. Since the first race in 1976, PPP has been a popular and thriving event, one of the premiere sporting competitions in the Pacific Northwest. All the proceeds from the PPP go to the  Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation  (MBSEF), which promotes youth athletics. Whether you come to watch, compete, or support a participant, the Pine Ridge Inn is the ideal choice for making the absolute most out of your stay in Bend.

1.     Convenient Location

The Pine Ridge Inn is centrally located just minutes away from downtown and a half-hour away from Mt. Bachelor, where the race kicks off. It’s an excellent home base for exploring Bend, enjoying the PPP festivities, and relaxing after an exhausting day of physical activity. The location is so convenient that many locals even stay at the Pine Ridge Inn during the competition.

2.     Beautiful, Comfortable Rooms

After a busy day of skiing, biking, running, and kayaking, you’ll want a welcoming and comfortable place to sit back and relax. The Pine Ridge Inn offers a variety of deluxe suites with luxurious beds, flat screen T.Vs, and warm gas fireplaces.  Several suites include patios and lovely river views while others come with Jacuzzi tubs, where you can sooth sore muscles and sip a glass of complimentary wine or local craft beer before tucking in for a relaxing night’s sleep.

3.     Friendly Staff and First-Rate Amenities

At the Pine Ridge Inn, we offer a wealth of amenities to ensure that your stay is as relaxing and memorable as possible. Upon arrival, we offer our guests local wine from the Naked Winery or options from over 30 local breweries. To power up before your big day, we serve a complimentary continental breakfast that includes freshly baked pastries, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, granola, and a choice of coffee or tea. If you are looking for even more physical activity after the PPP, all hotel guests may purchase a $10 day pass to the Athletic Club of Bend, which offers indoor and outdoor pools, workout facilities, and tennis courts. Our Hospitality Specialist provides friendly, informed, and professional service through out the day and will go out of their way to fill any and all of your needs, from arranging transportation and restaurant reservations to giving you the best and most up-to-date information about Bend as possible.

4.     Great Places to Eat…

Bend’s thriving and innovative food scene will provide you with plenty of opportunities to reward yourself after the rigorous activity of the Pole Pedal Paddle. You can grab a healthy and hearty breakfast at the  Sparrow Bakery  or  Chow  or explore delicious American options at the  Pine Tavern  or  900 Wall.  If you are craving something ethnic, check out  SporkBarrio , or  Wild Rose Thai. 5.     And Drink

With 29 breweries and counting, no trip to Bend is complete without a pint of one of our local craft beers. Check out  10 Barrel Brewingthe Goodlife Brewing Company,  and  the Crux Fermentation Project  for some of the best beers Central Oregon has to offer. If you aren’t a beer-lover, you can sip fancy cocktails at the  the Dogwood Cocktail Cabin , sample Oregon wines at  Sip Wine Bar,  or savor a stiff drink at the  Stihl Whiskey Bar. While we can’t recommend drinking before the PPP, you’ll certainly deserve a drink or two after afterwards, and in Bend, you don’t have to search long to find the perfect one.
